Writing is About Thinking Out Loud

It is the process of moving a thought to the thinking stage, then to the opinions stage.

The Thought

Writing begins with a thought. For me, these thoughts can come at any time, whether I’m awake or dreaming. Capturing these thoughts is crucial, and I try to do so either electronically or with pen and paper. Remembering them can be challenging, especially when they come quickly and I move on to the next one, forgetting the previous. However, when I manage to capture them, it saves me time later and brings me joy when they resurface.

The Thinking

The thinking process can take some time. Often, new thoughts are added to the mix. My years of experience provide a wealth of previous thinking to draw upon, including my own opinions and those of others on various topics. This fuels my writing.

Just when I think I’m ready to write, new thoughts may emerge, reactivating the thinking process and requiring more time before I can start writing. Eventually, the seemingly endless thinking process leads to forming an opinion.

An Opinion.

Writing out these thoughts in the form of an opinion can vary in time. Sometimes, I can quickly produce a finished product, while other times, I find myself editing excessively. Perhaps I will overthink it, but with practice, I will improve.

You are NOT finished until you have your work published

You are not finished until your work is published. For me, hitting the send key and releasing my work into the world for others to see, read, and comment on is the goal. Reaching this point brings me happiness.

How does your writing process start, flow, and move to the finished publish point?
